Burn This Blog!

Wiki Commons
I miss that I used to able to read a book in one sitting. I just can't do it anymore. I have to read a chapter or two then stop, because I start to wander, thinking about real life stuff or I nod off. Maddening, old age is.

I'm reading 'Mister B Gone' by Clive Barker. I think he is in the King, Straub, writing genre. A little horror, a little goo.

Mister B Gone is a devil who is trapped in the book. He implores us to burn the book so that he may be released. Mister B Gone was once, Jakabok Botch, who was hooked by humans and brought to the surface where he wreaked havoc for a couple thousand years. It all comes to a devil/angel smackdown in Mainz, Germany.

Any guesses why Mainz?

That's where Johannes Gutenberg tinkered with the printing press.

That's all I can tell you. At last read, Gutenberg's wife is actually an angel and I think there's gonna be some wrastlin'.

  1. I'm a bit like Pavlov's dogs too. Reading in bed has conditioned me to associate it with sleep :)
The book sounds interesting. You'll have let us know if you enjoyed it.
